After achieving a high success rate of hospice-assisted natural dying outcomes among animal hospice patients, Ella developed weekend seminars she held in various locations in the United States and then produced the first online classes available on special needs and animal end-of-life care, offering CEU’s to veterinary professionals.

Ella has given numerous lectures at conferences, including all of the International Symposia on Veterinary Hospice Care and AVMA’s Annual Convention in 2010.

Since 2006, she has also offered a free, volunteer-staffed non-veterinary helpline for caregivers dealing with their animals’ end of life.

She has volunteered in human hospice, completed CEU’s for hospice nurses, and presented on animal hospice in human hospice settings, including End-of-Life University. She is a founding member of IAAHPC, co-founder of GRACE, and serves on the advisory board of The NHFP. She is also a member of AVMA and AHVMA.
